Ruiz recognizes that it`s hard to leave rules, regulations, and restrictions behind for the rest of your life. The recognition of the four agreements includes a challenge coin engraved by the four agreements and which was issued by the United States Navy to Ruiz. As an introduction to the search for enlightenment, Ruiz lists four agreements that the individual can make with himself. These agreements are like principles (rules), but they are presented as agreements because Ruiz wishes to emphasize once again the need for individual will. The implementation of the other three is based on the first agreement “Be irreproachable with your word”. Then, Ruiz instructs the reader to “take nothing personally,” not to “make assumptions,” and to “always do his best.” With these four fundamental agreements, the reader is able to take action and participate in the process of self-assessment and personal growth. Then you have to choose to practice forgiveness all the time. As an extension of one`s relationship with oneself, one must extend love and grace to others. Finally, action must be taken in the form of the four agreements. For more information on our New Age Book Study, visit the information page. 2.
